Manchester Monarchs News Release
EL SEGUNDO, CA. - The Los Angeles Kings have recalled center Michael Cammalleri from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL) and have placed center Brad Chartrand on the injured reserve list, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today.
Cammalleri, 20, has played in 27 games for the Kings this season, recording eight points (5-3=8) and 20 penalty minutes, and he has played in 13 games for the Monarchs, recording 20 points (5-15=20) and 12 penalty minutes. The 5-9, 180-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, began the season with the Monarchs before being recalled and making his NHL debut on November 8 in Ottawa. He has been recalled by the Kings this season on multiple occasions -- the most recent being January 17 (assigned back to Manchester on January 22) -- and was originally selected by the Kings in the second-round (49th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Chartrand, 28, has missed the last two games due to a back strain. In 43 games this season with the Kings, the 5-11, 185-pound native of Winnipeg has 11 points (7-4=11) and 18 penalty minutes. In 143 career NHL games, all with the Kings, Chartrand has 40 points (21-19=40) and 77 penalty minutes. He was originally signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on July 21, 1999.
The Kings next take on the San Jose Sharks tonight at STAPLES Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. (PT). The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports Net, ESPN Radio 710-KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network.
