Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons have announced today that they have signed veteran defenseman Todd Gill to a Professional Tryout Agreement. Gill will join the Falcons as they prepare to head to Binghamton on Tuesday for their game against the Senators on Wednesday night.

Gill enters his 18th season of professional hockey after spending the 2001-02 season with the Colorado Avalanche collecting four points in 36 games.

"Todd gives us another veteran defenseman that will help provide strong leadership in the locker room, and he has proven National Hockey League ability," stated Falcons President and General Manager Bruce Landon.

Gill has played in 1,002 National Hockey League games collecting 82 goals and 269 assists for 351 points and 1,214 penalty minutes. Gill started his pro career with the Toronto Maple Leafs after Toronto drafted him with their 2nd choice (25th overall) in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He spent 12 years with Toronto before spending time with San Jose, St. Louis, Detroit, Phoenix, and Colorado.

Gill had his most productive season offensively during the 1992-93 campaign when he registered 11 goals and 32 assists for 43 points in 69 games with the Maple Leafs.
