Kings loan Clarke, Flinn to Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have loaned left wingers Noah Clarke and Ryan Flinn to the Monarchs, Kings President, Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. Also, the Monarchs released from their training camp to the ECHL's Reading Royals defenseman Mark Ardelan and forwards Doug Christiansen and Jon Francisco, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Clarke, 26, appeared in six preseason games with the Kings. The 5-foot-9, 193-pound native of La Verne, California, recorded four points (1-3=4) and six penalty minutes in the six games. Clarke, who was selected by the Kings in the ninth-round (250th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, has one assist in two career NHL regular season games (both with the Kings). He is the first native of California to play for the Kings. Clarke appeared in 61 games with the Monarchs, collected 45 points (21-24=45) and 24 penalty minutes.

Flinn, 25, appeared in five preseason games with the Kings. The 6-foot-5, 248-pound native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, collected 24 penalty minutes in the five contests. Flinn, signed by the Kings as a free agent on January 9, 2002, has one goal and 79 penalty minutes in 29 career NHL regular season games over two seasons (2001-03), all with the Kings. Flinn appeared in 14 games with the Monarchs during the 2004-05 season, recording two points (1-1=2) and 112 penalty minutes.

Ardelan, 22, appeared in 72 games with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays during the 2004-05 season, collecting 47 points (15-32=47) and 24 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound native of Avonlea, Saskatchewan, collected one point (0-1=1) and two penalty minutes in one game with the Portland Pirates last season.

Christiansen, 27, recorded 62 points (24-38=62) and 164 penalty minutes in 77 games with the United Hockey League's Danbury Trashers during the 2004-05 season. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, collected seven penalty minutes in two games with the Monarchs and appeared in one game with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers last season.

Francisco, 24, appeared in 72 games with the Royals during the 2004-05 season, recording 40 points (19-21=40) and 96 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Hermantown, Minnesota, collected 13 penalty minutes in seven playoff games in Reading last season.

Monarchs Announce August Investing In Our Youth Winners Woodland Heights Elementary and the Webster House each receive $1,000 grants from the team

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have donated $1,000 scholarships to Woodland Heights Elementary School for funds to establish the Parent Connections: Parent Resource Center and to the Webster House for the purchase of athletic equipment as part of their Investing In Our Youth grant program, the team announced on Tuesday. Through the program, the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, is able to award two different $1,000 scholarships each month. One of the scholarships goes to a deserving youth sports teams. The other scholarship goes to a deserving school organization.

The Monarchs are currently taking applications for the program. Athletic and educational organizations are encouraged to apply. Woodland Heights School is a K-5 elementary school in the Laconia School District with a total enrollment of 387 students. The goal of the Parent Connections: Parent Resource Center is to develop a network of resources for parents to connect within the school and in the community. Other facets of the project will include providing connections to local area support agencies and programs; providing math and literacy nights for parents at the school; and expanding the volunteer program at Woodland Heights School in addition to many other elements that will evolve throughout the school year.

Webster House is a private non-profit home for children located in Manchester. Twenty-one youngsters, ranging in age from eight to 18, currently reside at the facility. The Webster House strives to keep the children engaged in healthy recreational activities that promote an active, fun and positive lifestyle.
