HERSHEY - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that four players have been assigned by NHL's Washington Capitals. The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and Capitals VP/General Manager George McPhee.
Washington assigned two former AHL All-Stars in defenseman Lawrence Nycholat and right wing Miroslav Zalesak. Nycholat played in the 2005 AHL All-Star Classic in Manchester representing the Hartford Wolf Pack while Zalesak played in the 2004 Classic in Grand Rapids as a member of the Cleveland Barons. Zalesak also scored 35 goals in 72 games for Cleveland in 2003-04, while Nycholat notched 43 points in 79 games last year in Hartford
Defenseman Mike Green was drafted by Washington in the first round, 29th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He scored 14 goals and assisted on 52 others last season while playing for the Saskatoon Blades (WHL). Cutta spent 2004-05 in Portland playing for the Pirates, recording 100 penalty minutes.
HERSHEY'S roster currently stands at 30 players, with roster moves expected before Saturday's season opener at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The BEARS host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this Sunday in HERSHEY'S 68th American Hockey League home opener. Face-off is set for 5:00 p.m., with tickets available at the GIANT Center box office or by calling (717) 534-3911.
