Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons announced today that they have signed veteran Brad Bombardir to a professional tryout agreement. The 6'1", 205-pound defenseman out of Powell River, British Columbia last played in the AHL in 1998 as a member of the Albany River Rats. Bombardir, 33, has spent the past seven seasons in the NHL, playing for the New Jersey Devils, the Minnesota Wild and the Nashville Predators. He was a member of the Devils team that won the Stanley Cup in 2000.

Bombardir was a third round draft pick for the Devils in 1990. He split the 2003-04 season between the Wild and the Predators, playing in 69 regular season games and six playoff games. He has played on a playoff team in seven out of his 10 professional seasons.

"Brad brings a tremendous amount of both AHL and NHL experience to our team," said Falcons president and general manager Bruce Landon. "We are excited to add another defenseman with experience that will only add to the depth of our blueline."

The Falcons will open their 12th American Hockey League season this Saturday, October 8 when they host the Portland Pirates at the newly renovated MassMutual Center. Game time is 7:05 PM.
