Wichita Thunder News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS- The Wichita Thunder lost 7-1 to the Mississippi RiverKings at the DeSoto Civic Center on Friday night. Wichita played a scoreless first period for a third straight game. Ian Keserich made a huge save late in the period, kicking away Steve Margeson's breakaway attempt to the left side of the net. The stop came about a minute after Tomas Klempa was denied on a similar play by Kings' goaltender Tim Boron.

Mississippi exploded for six goals in the second period to take control of the game. Three players crashed the net at 1:31 with Ryan Held earning credit for a goal. While it appeared Ian Keserich was interfered with, the call stood to give Mississippi a 1-0 lead. Tyler Doherty, Darrell Stoddard, Ken Davis, Elias Godoy, and Louis Dumont all added goals in the second. The six goals allowed were the most in one period by the Thunder this season.

Mississippi added another goal in the third before Ryan Campbell broke up the shutout at 11:40 with a power play goal. Keserich stopped 29 of 34 before being relieved by Scott Campbell after the RiverKings' fifth goal. Campbell was four of six. Boron stopped 35 of 36 to earn his third win against Wichita this season. Wichtia was 1 for 4 on the power play while 5 for 5 on the penalty kill.

The Thunder takes on the Missouri Mavericks Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. All the action can be heard live worldwide at www.wichitathunder.com and www.allinbroadcasting.com The Thunder returns home on Sunday to host the Arizona Sundogs at 5:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
