Sibbald Leaves RiverKings

February 26, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin "Killer" Kaminski today announced that goaltender Mark Sibbald has decided to leave the team, effective immediately.

Kaminski said Sibbald expressed a desire to return to his previous team in Huntsville of the Southern Professional Hockey League. "He came in and talked to me and said he was not having fun," said Kaminski. "I guess if he thinks that the route he needs to take to get better or get to a higher level, then I guess good for him."

Sibbald was 5-4-1 in his time in Mississippi, posting a 3.18 goals against average and a save percentage of.882. He started with a five-game winning streak, but had gone 0-4-1 in his last five decisions.

Sibbald is a native of Ridgeway, Ontario who also played briefly with Laredo in the Central Hockey League along with his time in Huntsville this season.

The RiverKings will use an emergency back-up goaltender this weekend as Kaminski finds a replacement for Sibbald on the roster.

Mississippi takes on the Wichita Thunder tonight at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, beginning at 7:05 PM. Tickets are available for tonight's game through the DCC box office and Ticketmaster.
