NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - With the Southern Conference standings tightening the Brahmas were in search for a big win over the Corpus Christi IceRays Friday night; and due to strong goaltending and defensive battle victories Texas was able to take the game 4-3.

It didn't take long for Brahmas leading scorer Jordan Cameron to get back on track in his first game since February 13, when he found a pass from linemate Jason Deitsch and drilled it past Kevin Beech for a Texas 1-0 lead. The IceRays, riding a three game winning streak, found the opportunity to strike back with less than a minute remaining in the period as Chris Richards directed the puck over Brett Jaeger from the crease.

Corpus took the lead in the second from a goal by Adam Powell, his twelfth of the season, but back to back goals from the home squad regained Texas' advantage on the scoreboard. A ‘Rays penalty proved to be costly at the 7:09 mark in the middle frame when Tyler Skworchinski netted a powerplay goal from Deitsch and Cameron for the 2-2 tie. Thirty seconds later Scott Thauwald cashed in for his sixth of the year with assists from A.J. Gale and Nathan Perrott.

The game's tempo picked up the third and it was all about Texas' reigning CHL Goaltender of the week, Jaeger who picked up the save of the game stoning Chad Costello on a breakaway with five minutes remaining in the game. In efforts to gain an edge the ‘Rays yanked Beech for the extra attacker and it was Skworchinski who stole the puck and trickled it in from center ice for the shorthanded empty netter. Corpus was able to pick up one more goal with a single second remaining, but time was on the Brahmas side as they stretched their lead in the conference over Corpus by eight points.

The Brahmas hit the road to face the Laredo Bucks tomorrow night before returning to the NYTEX Sports Centre for a 4:05 PM faceoff against the Missouri Mavericks. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
