Your Cedar Rapids Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium for a six-day home stand against Wisconsin and Burlington. Here's a preview of what you can expect these next six days:
May 28-30 vs. Wisconsin
The Kernels begin a six game home stand with three games against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Who wants free money? You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Free Money Wednesday, presented by First Federal Credit Union. $500 will be given out by First Federal at the main gates, to fans age 18 and older, with the top cash prize of $100 EVERY Wednesday home game. The Kernels welcome special guests from Harding and Regis Middle School to the game. First pitch between the Kernels and Wisconsin is set for 6:35 pm.
It's a Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday when the Kernels take on Wisconsin at 6:35 pm. Get 20 bottled soda and water and 12 oz. regular draft beer for just $2 all game, plus get $1 off margarita's at the Hacienda Las Glorias / La Cantina Mexican Cart. It's also Little Caesar's College Night. Show your college ID at the Kernels Ticket Office and get a Club ticket and two slices of Little Caesar's Pizza for just $7. The Kernels welcome special guests from Arthur Elementary and Summit Schools to the game. Gates open at 5:30 pm.
May the Force Be With You - it's our annual Star Wars Night at the Ballpark on Friday, May 30th. The first 1,000 fans through the gates when they open at 5:30 pm receive a free Kernels Star Wars T-Shirt. Come dressed in your favorite Star Wars Costume as costume players from the 501st Central Garrison will be on hand during the game. The Kernels are wearing special Star Wars jerseys that will be sold during the game via a silent auction with the proceeds to benefit Tourette Syndrome Awareness. It's also 98.1 KHAK Kernels Friday Mug Club night. Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug for $6 and get refills at the concession stands for $3 all game. Bring your mug back to every Kernels Friday home game for $3 refills. First pitch between the Kernels and Timber Rattlers is set for 6:35 pm.
May 31 - June 2 vs. Burlington
The Kernels continue a six-game home stand with three games against the Burlington Bees, the Midwest League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
On Saturday, May 31st, the Kernels host their annual Youth Baseball Clinic, open to boys and girls ages 5-12. The clinic will be held from 9 am to noon at Perfect Game Field and registrations will be accepted the day of the event, but save by signing up early. The cost is just $15 per child and $20 the day of the event.
You're invited - to crash a wedding! You heard right, the Kernels are hosting Wedding Crashers Night and you get to crash an actual wedding just by coming to the game. Gates open at 4:00 pm and the game features a post-game concert by the Past Masters and a special FIREWORKS show. Fireworks nights are VERY popular so contact the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560 or order tickets at www.kernels.com to get the best seats. The Kernels take on Burlington at 5:05 pm.
It's Bark in the Park on Sunday, June 1st. You can bring your favorite four-legged friend to the game with a special 'doggy' ticket and proceeds from the dog tickets will benefit the Friends Helping Friends Foundation. Plus bring your dog down onto the field for a pre-game parade. It's also a Run the Bases Sunday, sponsored by Planet X with media sponsor 104.5 KDAT. Run the bases, play catch in the outfield and get autographs from the Kernels on the field after the game. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon, face painting by Kennedy Wilson and magician Jackson Green on the concourse during the game. Play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo during the game for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see a Twins game during the 2014 season. Gates open at 1:00 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Bees is set for 2:05 pm.

Run the Bases Sunday, sponsored by Planet X: After every Sunday home game, kids (and adults) can run the bases, play catch on the field and get autographs from the Kernels, sponsored by Planet X with media sponsor 104.5 KDAT. During the game, play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo, co-sponsored by the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see a Twins game. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon on the concourse and face painting by Kennedy. Magician Jackson Green will entertain at Sunday home games, starting June 1st.

The Kernels will wear special jerseys and one lucky fan will win a pair of Minnesota Twins tickets given away at every Tuesday home game.

The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
