Bees Drop Slugfest with Quad Cities

(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees saw their four game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night at Community Field, dropping the series finale, 10-9, to the Quad Cities River Bandits.

After Quad Cities jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, the Bees answered in the bottom half when Eric Aguilera singled in Kody Eaves. In the next at bat Angel Rosa smacked a three run home run to put the Bees on top 4-0.

With the score at 4-3, Exicardo Cayones lifted a ball out to right that would score Erick Salcedo on a sacrifice fly, extending the Bees lead to 5-3.

Quad Cities scored a pair of runs in the third to tie the game at five. Jon Kemmer then gave the River Bandits the lead with a solo home run in the fourth.

The Bees tied the game back up at six in the bottom of the fourth when Stephen McGee came home on a passed ball.

After Quad Cities took an 8-6 lead in the fifth, the Bees scored three runs in the sixth inning. Kody Evaes singled up the middle scoring Ranyelmy Mendoza cutting the deficit to 8-7. Exicardo Cayones then singled in Erick Salcedo, tying the game at eight. Bees' left fielder Mike Fish grounded into a fielder's choice scoring Kody Eaves, giving the Bees a 9-8 lead.

Ronnie Mitchell put the River Bandits up for good with a two run homer in the seventh and the Bees could not recover falling 10-9 to Quad Cities.

Albert Minnis (1-1) picked up the win for the Quad Cities River Bandits (25-26) while Spencer Trygg (0-1) was charged with the loss for the Burlington Bees (25-25). Frederick Tiburcio (1) earned the save for the River Bandits.

The Bees hit the road to start a six game road trip starting Wednesday night in Peoria against the Peoria Chiefs at 6:30 PM. Yency Almonte makes the start for the Bees against Michael Holback for the Peoria Chiefs.
