SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The first-place South Bend Silver Hawks (32-19) finished a three-game sweep of the Lansing Lugnuts (24-27) with a 14-4 rout on Tuesday afternoon at Four Winds Field.
Lansing finished the six-game Indiana road trip with a 1-5 record, getting outscored 44-23 by Fort Wayne and South Bend.
South Bend took an early lead with two runs in the first inning against Lansing starter Shane Dawson (Loss, 2-2), but the Lugnuts tied the game in the third with a bases-loaded walk by catcher Jorge Saez and an RBI single by right fielder Chaz Frank.
The Silver Hawks answered with a run in the fourth, and piled on seven runs in the fifth against reliever Alberto Tirado, who recorded just two outs before being replaced by Phil Kish.
Starting pitcher Blake Perry (Win, 4-2) pitched six innings for the Silver Hawks, allowing two runs on four hits with four walks and fanning seven Lugnuts.
Lansing shortstop Jason Leblebijian drove an RBI double in the eighth inning to cut the deficit to 13-4, but the Lugs could get no closer.
Second baseman Dickie Joe Thon went 2-for-3 for the Lugnuts and scored a run.
The Lugs surrendered a season-high 21 hits, led by four-hit days for South Bend's Breland Almadova and Steve McQuail.
Lansing returns home to Cooley Law School Stadium on a Wednesday Hump Day, starring Humphrey the Camel, opening a three-game series with the Great Lakes Loons.
Lefty Matt Dermody (2-1, 5.04) will start on the mound for the Lugnuts, countered by Great Lakes right-hander Zachary Bird (3-6, 4.56). Game time is 7:05 p.m.
