Captains Walk-Off Winners in 10 Innings

Lake County Captains News Release


(Eastlake, OH)- Grant Fink singled home Eric Haase in the bottom of the tenth inning and the Captains walked-off winners against the Great Lakes Loons by a score of 3-2. Haase reached on a single and was balked to second base. The Captains have now won five games on walk-off hits. Lake County (18-34) has now improved to 5-2 in extra innings.

Great Lakes (25-27) scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning to open the scoring. With two on and two out, Alex Santana doubled both runners home. Santana staked the Loons to the 2-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Nellie Rodriguez led off with a single to centerfield and Eric Haase smacked his Midwest League Leading tenth homerun of the season and the game was tied at 2-2.

RHP Dace Kime (0-7) started for Lake County and did not get a decision. Kime pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs on one hit and three walks. Kime struck out just one. Luis Lugo (2-4) entered in the sixth inning for the Captains. Lugo pitched five innings of shutout baseball in relief. Lugo did not allow a hit he walked three and struck out three and earned the win.

RHP Jonathan Martinez (4-5) started for Great Lakes and did not get a decision. Martinez pitched six innings and allowed four hits, two earned runs, one walk and he allowed the homer to Haase. Martinez struck out six. Jordan Hershiser entered for the Loons and pitched two innings of shutout and hitless baseball. Jacob Rhame (2-2) entered in the ninth inning and took the loss. Rhame pitched one and one third inning and allowed two hits and one earned run. Rhame fanned three.

The Captains will remain home in Eastlake, OH on Wednesday to continue a six-game home stand. The South Bend Silver Hawks are in town for the opening game of a three game set. The Captains will start RHP Jordan Milbrath (1-4, 2.68) and the Hawks will counter with RHP Sean Furney (0-1, 8.36). First Pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM from Classic Park.
