(Moosic, PA) Aaron Judge's three-run homer gave the Scranton RailRiders enough offense to withstand a late rally in a 5-2 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox on Tuesday night at PNC Field. William Cuevas was solid in his second AAA start but the PawSox could not muster enough offense to support him and lost a ninth straight game.

The PawSox scored their second run in the eighth inning but left the bases loaded to end their final threat. Cuevas allowed two runs over five innings on just two hits with four strikeouts.

The Riders' first run scored on a Cuevas wild pitch with two outs in the third inning - an inning in which Scranton had loaded the bases with no outs.

The PawSox (44-73) tied the game on Quintin Berry's second home run - a massive blast into left-centerfield. The Riders pulled ahead with a two-out, fifth inning rally and put it away in the sixth.

Cuevas walked Jose Pirela for the second time to lead off the fifth. With two outs, Ben Gamel doubled to center to make it a 2-1 game.

Scranton starter Kyle Haynes was lifted with two outs in the sixth. James Pazos got the last out of the frame; he and the 'Riders watched from the dugout as Judge struck the big blow in the bottom of the inning.

With Robby Scott on in relief of Cuevas, Greg Bird and Gary Sanchez singled to set the table for the righthander Judge, who launched his fifth AAA homer to make it 5-1.

In the eighth inning, RailRiders' reliever Nick Goody opened the door for Pawtucket. Carlos Rivero ripped a single - his first hit since returning to the PawSox in a trade yesterday - began the rally. Sandy Leon then walked but was picked off at first base. Allen Craig singled and Garin Cecchini walked to load the bases. Andrew Bailey was summoned from the bullpen and walked Humberto Quintero to make it 5-2. The righthander who last pitched in the big leagues with the Red Sox struck out Jemile Week and Mike Miller to end the threat.

The PawSox play the third of their four-game series in Scranton on Wednesday night at 7:05 P.M. Lefthander Edwin Escobar (0-2, 7.54) makes another spot start for Pawtucket and will be opposed by RailRiders' lefty Chris Capuano (1-1, 1.93). Radio coverage will begin on WHJJ and online at 6:50.

The PawSox return to McCoy on Monday, August 17th for the first of a nine-game homestand at 7:05. Good seats for all the games on the homestand are available; call 401-724-7300 or visit the PawSox online at www.pawsox.com to get them now.
