Jorge Jimenez Joins Sea Dogs, Andrew Pinckney Released

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have promoted third baseman Jorge Jimenez from Single-A Lancaster to Double-A Portland. Sea Dogs' third baseman Andrew Pinckney was released. Jimenez will wear uniform # 13, he is the 36th player to wear a Sea Dogs uniform this season.

The 23 year-old Jimenez has appeared in 70 games for the JetHawks this season and ranks second in the California League in hitting at .352 with 4 home runs and 42 RBI. He leads the league in on base percentage (.421) and his tied for second in hits (94). He was the starting third baseman for the California League in the California League/ Carolina League All-Star Game on June 24th. Last season at Single-A Lowell he led the New York Penn League with 23 doubles. In 68 games for the Spinners he hit .303 with 4 home runs and 44 RBI. He collected the game winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth on August 11th against Hudson Valley in a game played at Fenway Park. Jimenez was a 16th round selection of the Boston Red Sox in the 2006 First-Year player Draft.

Andrew Pinckney appeared in 56 games for Portland this season hitting .269 with 5 home runs and 37 RBI. In 2007 with the Sea Dogs, Pinckney led the club with 125 games, 14 homers, 32 2 out RBI and tied for first with 64 RBI. He ranked second on the team with 72 runs scored and 121 hits. Pinckney was a Carolina League All-Star in 2006 and a South Atlantic League All-Star in 2005. The 26 year-old was drafted by the Red Sox in 34th round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft.
