Johnson Doubles Take Down Tacoma

June 1, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

Sherman Johnson broke a 3-3 tie with a two run double in the eighth inning, as the Salt Lake Bees snapped their six game losing streak with a 5-3 over the Tacoma Rainiers. The bases were loaded with two outs when Johnson pulled a 1-0 pitch off the wall in right field to put Salt Lake in front. The Bees trailed 3-0 with one out in the seventh when Ji-Man Choi, Erik Kratz and Johnson hit three consecutive doubles to make it 3-2. One out later, Kyle Kubitza rifled a double off the top of the right field wall to bring in Johnson with the tying run.

Salt Lake starter Kyle Kendrick (3-2) picked up the win, as he went seven innings and allowed three runs on eight hits with one strikeout and three walks. A.J. Achter retired all six batters he faced to earn his first save of the season. Johnson led the Bees with two doubles and three runs batted in, as Salt Lake scored as many runs in this game, as they did in the entire four game series at Tacoma four weeks ago. Six of the Bees' eight hits were doubles.
