Joel Martin Named CCM ECHL Goalie of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Joel Martin of the Kalamazoo Wings is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Oct. 26-Nov. 1. It is the seventh time in his career that he has won the weekly honor, tying him for the most in ECHL history.
The 33-year-old was 2-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage in two appearances last week.
Martin tied the ECHL season-high 47 saves in a 4-3 win against Indy on Tuesday and stopped 33 shots in a 3-1 victory over Cincinnati on Friday.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Martin has appeared in all six games for the K-Wings this season posting a 2-4-0 record with a 3.04 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.
Martin has appeared in 249 career ECHL games with Kalamazoo, Elmira, Augusta, Trenton and Columbus posting an overall record of 125-93-23 with 10 shutouts, a 2.97 goals-against average and a save percentage of .909. His 125 wins rank 12th in ECHL history. During the 2012-13 season, he set an ECHL record by playing 3,739 minutes while his 63 games played and 2,051 saves are second all-time in a single season in league history.
He has also seen action in 22 career games in the American Hockey League with Cleveland, Norfolk, Syracuse and Bridgeport.
The Kalamazoo Wings host NFL night on Sunday, November 8. With a 4 p.m. puck drop, the tailgate begins at 3 p.m. with a lounge area to watch your favorite NFL teams, inflatable games, and a chance to win either an Xbox One or a trip to Los Angeles to watch a taping of NFL Game Day Morning.
Single-game tickets are now on sale! Tickets can be purchased at kwings.com or at the Wings Event Center box office. Box office hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A $2 discount is applied on all tickets purchased before the date of the game.
