
Jackals Fall in Shoot Out

Elmira, NY- A wild hockey game at First Arena found the Elmira Jackals on the losing end of a 4-3 shoot out contest. Led by two power play goals from Kaleb Betts and stellar goaltending from Michael Teslak, the Jackals played strong be were unable to leave their home ice with two points.
The scoring got started at the 4:43 mark of the first period on a goal from Olivier Lattendresse. The Jackals would strike back with back to back power play goals from Kaleb Betts. The first came at the 9:00 mark with assists going to Slavomir Tomko and Josh Aspenlind. The go ahead goal came at the 11:11 mark of the first. Slavomir Tomko and Travis Gawryletz would assist. Trailing 2-1 the Cyclones would get the equalizer at the 13:32 mark of the first. McLeod from Cohen and Martin.
Deadlocked at deuces, the second period was a back and fourth hard hitting frame. The Jackals took the 3-2 lead at the 10:32 mark on a goal from Chris Korchinski, Bruce Watson and Travis Gawryletz would assist. The Cyclones would even the score at the 15:23 mark of the third on a goal from Ben McLeod.
Even through three periods the goaltenders would steel the show in the third. A back and fourth game that saw a handful of big saves took us into a sudden death overtime. Neither team could score in the extra frame so we would go to a shoot out. Again the goalies were superb. Mark Van Guilder would get the game winner in the shoot out to boost the cyclones to a 7-7-1-2 record, while the Jackals fall to a 9-5-0-2 record.
Up NEXT: After tonight's game the Jackals board the bus and head to Wheeling to take on the Nailers. The Jackals then return to First Arena for a three game set starting Wednesday, December 3rd when they play host to the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. The Reading Royals visit First Arena on Friday, December 5th at 7:35 p.m., and the Trenton Devils are in town on Saturday, December 6th for a 7:35 p.m. tilt.
