Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers fell in a shootout to the Wheeling Nailers 3-2 on Friday night.

The Nailers opened scoring in the first as Andrew Lord scored his fourth goal of the season, sneaking the puck past Bombers netminder Tyler Plante. However, defenseman Jim Henkemeyer would even the game at one when he netted a power play goal from Nino Musitelli and Jarret Lukin at the 11 minute mark of the first.

Once again in the second, Wheeling took the early lead off Bryan Ewing's sixth of the year less than a minute into the period. Newly acquired Bomber Bryson Busniuk tallied his first in a Dayton uniform just under five minutes later to knot the game at 2-2. Ryan Smyth and Lukin had assists on the play.

Despite 14 total shots going toward Plante and Wheeling's Curtis Darling, neither team could find the back of the net in the third period. The Bombers then had a pair of power play opportunities in overtime; however, they could not manage to notch the game winner.

In the shootout, Darling was 3 of 4 for Wheeling, while Plante was 1 of 4 for the Bombers.

The Bombers finished the night 1 of 7 on the power play and 5 of 5 on the penalty kill.

Up next for the Bombers is a pair of games against the visiting Reading Royals. Tomorrow they will head north to the historic Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio for a 7:30 p.m. match-up, then on Sunday action returns to the Nutter Center at 5:00 p.m.
