Yeo sends game to overtime before Landolt secures 3-2 win

West Valley City, UT - The Salmon Kings and Grizzlies continued their three-game set in West Valley City, UT on Friday night. Todd Ford got the call in between the pipes for Victoria while Utah countered with Mike Mole.

In a high tempo period the Grizzlies capitalized late in the period when Vladimir Nikiforov directed a pass from Evan Kotsopoulos past Ford for the 1-0 lead. That would be the score through one period of play.

The Salmon Kings tied the game 1-1 when Darryl Lloyd deflected a Chris St. Jacques shot. The Grizzlies would recapture the lead when John Gleed fired a shot that Todd Ford made the initial save on, but Mike Walsh fired the rebound into the net. Utah led 2-1 after 40 minutes.

Utah goaltender Mike Mole nearly stole the show in the third period as he made a handful of highlight reel saves. The Kings trailed 2-1 with just over four minutes remaining when Olivier Filion took a four minute penalty, but Dylan Yeo would steal the puck and fire a shot through mole to tie the game at 2-2. That's how regulation would end.

In the extra frame Matt Kelly would charge down the right side and cut hard to the net forcing Reagan Leslie to haul him down sending Victoria to the power play. Head coach Mark Morrison sent out four forwards for the power play and after several chance Shaun Landolt blasted the game winner past Mole. Salmon Kings 3 Grizzlies 2 in OT.

Victoria finished 1/6=16.7% on the power play, while Utah finished 0/5=0%. Final shots were 46-40for the Salmon Kings.

The Salmon Kings and Grizzlies conclude their three-game set on Saturday night at 6:05 PST. Victoria then travels to Ontario, California to take on the Reign. It will be the first time these two teams will meet. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. PST on Wednesday, December 3rd.
