Isotopes roll to fourth straight win, 4-3, over Z's in 10 innings

Mark Little knocked home the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning to lift the Albuquerque Isotopes (14-6) to a 4-3 win over New Orleans (10-9) Tuesday, completing Albuquerque's second-straight series sweep and tying a franchise record with eight-straight wins.

The 'Topes have now taken 11 of their last 12, 13 their last 15, and have swept back-to-back four-game series for the first time in club history.

Tied at 3-3, Robert Andino and Mike Colangelo hit back-to-back singles to start the 10th inning, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position with nobody out. After Mike Kinkade popped out, Little followed with a single to left, scoring Andino and putting the 'Topes on top, 4-3. Chris Resop and Logan Kensing combined to slam the door in the bottom half of the inning, securing the victory.

Albuquerque jumped on the board first, manufacturing a run for a quick 1-0 lead. James Shanks led off with a single and Andino sacrificed him to second on a bunt that was fielded by the pitcher. Shanks went to third on a wild pitch and came around to score on a Colangelo single to left.

In the bottom half of the third, the Zephyrs tied the game and eventually went ahead for the first time, doing damage with two away. After Greg Thissen was hit by a pitch and stole second, the top three hitters in the New Orleans order hit three-straight two-out doubles to put the Zs on top, 3-1.

Albuquerque shot right back with a couple runs in the fourth to tie the score. Kinkade led off the inning with a solo homerun to left, then Chris Ashby singled and came around to score on a two-out fielding error by centerfielder Tyrell Godwin one batter later.

Starter Jeff Fulchino allowed three runs on six hits through five innings. Resop (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless 1.2 innings, and Kensing (2) was credited with the save, striking out Larry Broadway for the final out in the 10th. Santiago Ramirez (1-1) was pinned with the loss.

Shanks finished 4-for-5, while Little picked up three hits. Colangelo and Ashby both collected two hits on the day.

The 'Topes will take an off-day on Wednesday, then begin a four-game set with the Oklahoma RedHawks on Thursday. First pitch from AT&T Bricktown Ballpark is set for 6:05 p.m. Albuquerque will send Renyel Pinto (2-0, 2.29) to the hill, and Oklahoma will give the ball to Rob Tejada (0-2, 7.20).

Albuquerque will return home on May 1 for an eight-game homestand that is highlighted by a special Cinco De Mayo Celebration at Isotopes Park. A mariachi band will be on-hand to entertain fans throughout the game, which will be capped by a spectacular fireworks show.
