Stokes named PCL Batter of the Week

Albuquerque Isotopes first baseman Jason Stokes has been named Pacific Coast League Batter of the Week for games beginning on April 17th and continuing through April 23rd after posting a .481 batting average with three homers and 10 runs scored in seven games.

Stokes had a hit in every game he played during the week, including a 4-for-5 performance on April 17th against New Orleans and a 3-for-3 night against Iowa on April 20th. In 27 at-bats throughout the week, Stokes collected 13 hits, with three doubles, three homers, and five RBI. His slugging percentage for the seven-game period was a gaudy .815.

The 'Topes first baseman becomes the first Isotopes player to garner PCL honors this year. Last season, Albuquerque had a franchise-best five players win Player of the Week honors. Mark Little, Joe Dillon, Josh Willingham, and Mike Colangelo all took Batter of the Week accolades throughout the 2005 campaign, while right-hand pitcher Travis Smith became the first 'Topes hurler to earn Pitcher of the Week honors. In 2004, Dillon and Larry Sutton each won Batter of the Week accolades, while in 2003 slugger Robert Stratton won PCL Batter of the Week.
