Big innings doom RedHawks

The Nashville Sounds used two big innings to beat the Oklahoma RedHawks 9-4 Tuesday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.

Nashville scored four runs in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead and added three in the ninth to win 9-4. The three-run ninth was capped by a two-run home run by centerfielder Nelson Cruz. In the teams' three-game series, Cruz hit three home runs and had five RBIs. He went two-for-three at the plate with two walks and three RBIs Tuesday.

The RedHawks were paced offensively by designated hitter Erubiel Durazo. He went two-for-three at the plate with his second home run of the season and an RBI. Durazo is now batting .304 this season after a stretch at the plate earlier in the year in which he was 0-for-13.

John Hudgins made his first start of the year for the RedHawks and pitched 4.2 innings. He gave up two runs, one earned on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts. He had a no hitter through three innings with two walks.

The RedHawks will start a four-game series with the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
