NASHVILLE -- Matt Magill struck out 10 batters in 5 1/3 innings, including six in a row at one point, to lead the Albuquerque Isotopes to a 9-1 victory over the Nashville Sounds on Wednesday night at Herschel Greer Stadium.

Magill (3-0) allowed one run on three hits and walked two. According to the milb.com Gameday, Magill recorded 17 swings-and-misses in the game, including 10 in the fourth and fifth innings. Offensively, Magill drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning, then doubled to the right-center wall and scored in the sixth inning.

Relief pitchers Red Patterson (1 2/3 innings), Sean White (1 inning) and Anthony Ortega (1 inning) finished off the Sounds, as they managed just three hits in the game.

The Isotopes had a balanced offense. Dee Gordon had two singles, two walks, his league-leading 37th stolen base and a run scored. Elian Herrera drove in two runs. Chili Buss was 2-for-4, including his 14th home run of the season. Brian Barden was 2-for-5 with an RBI, his third straight RBI in a game he's started.

With a loss by Round Rock, the Isotopes (59-46) are again tied for first place in the PCL's American Southern division. They are 8-2 against Nashville this season.

Game four of the four-game series is Thursday. Rob Rasmussen starts for the Isotopes. Johnny Helweg, who was leading the PCL in ERA for most of the season but doesn't currently have enough innings, will start for the Sounds. First pitch is at 6:05 pm Mountain Time and all the action can be heard on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
