Des Moines, IA - OF Dave Sappelt has been activated to the Iowa Cubs roster today. Sappelt was optioned to Iowa yesterday when Chicago activated OF David DeJesus from the disabled list. Iowa OF Ty Wright has been placed on the D.L. with a calf strain.
This is SappeltÊüs second stint with Iowa this season. After starting the in the big leagues, Sappelt was optioned to Iowa on May 6 and played in 52 games before being recalled on July 2. He hit .269 (50-for-186) with 12 doubles, three triples, two home runs, and 34 RBI for Iowa during that stretch. With Chicago this season, Sappelt batted .240 (18-for-75) with three doubles, four RBI, and six runs in 31 games.
Wright is batting .250 (32-for-128) with seven doubles, two home runs, and 18 RBI in 36 games with Iowa this season. He also had a stint at double-A Tennessee from April 23-June 27.
The Cubs play host the New Orleans in the final of a four game series tonight at 7:05. RH Jake Arrieta (0-2, 5.17) will start for the Cubs against LH Duane Below (5-4, 2.65) for the Zephyrs.
