TACOMA, Wash. - Abraham Almonte collected three hits and Franklin Gutierrez drove in three runs as the Rainiers topped the Tucson Padres 5-3 at Cheney Stadium on Wednesday night.
After Tucson took an early 2-0 lead, Gutierrez cut the Rainiers deficit in half with a sacrifice fly that scored Almonte in the third inning. Gutierrez stretched Tacoma's 3-2 lead to two runs with an RBI single in the fifth and he went on to add an RBI double in the seventh.
The outfielder Almonte led a Rainiers lineup that collected a combined nine hits after going 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three runs scored. Nate Tenbrink went 2-for-4, including a go-ahead home run that broke open a 2-2 tie in the fourth. In the third game of his Major League rehab assignment with Tacoma, Pryor twirled one perfect inning in the eighth. Bawcom blanked the Padres through one inning in the ninth en route to collecting his team-leading 18th save this season.
