Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
MEMPHIS -- Rusty Ryal had three hits, including a go-ahead RBI triple in the fifth inning, to lead the Albuquerque Isotopes to a 7-2 win over the Memphis Redbirds on Tuesday night at Auto Zone Park.
The Isotopes are 4-1 so far on this eight-game road trip. They had 15 hits in the game and walked seven times, but stranded 16 on base to tie a season high.
Alex Castellanos hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2. It was Castellanos' seventh home run this year, and third in the last six games.
Ryal's RBI single came in the seventh inning, and was followed by a run-scoring single by Justin Sellers. In the eighth, Tim Federowicz singled home a run and Jeremy Moore's third hit of the night plated two more.
Starter Matt Palmer allowed two unearned runs in the second inning. An error and two walks loaded the bases, and Brock Peterson singled home two runs. Palmer was lifted after 99 innings with one out in the fifth inning.
Geison Aguasviva allowed a gapper into left-center in the fifth, but Matt Angle cut it off, Justin Sellers' relay throw home was perfect, and Federowicz applied the tag on Adron Chambers to keep the game tied at 2-2. Aguasviva (2-2) pitched scoreless sixth inning and picked up the win in relief. Peter Moylan pitched a scoreless seventh, and Josh Wall worked two scoreless frames to secure the victory.
Game two of the four-game series is Wednesday. Maikel Cleto (2-2, 4.68) will start for Memphis. Angel Castro (4-2, 3.57) gets the ball for the Isotopes. First pitch is at 6:05 pm MDT. All the action can be heard on 610 The Sports Animal with Josh Suchon on the call.
