July 22, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Quintin Berry singled home the game-winner in the ninth as Albuquerque (57-45) dropped the series finale 8-6 to the Omaha Storm Chasers (47-54). The Isotopes are now tied for first place with the Round Rock Express in the American Southern Division.
Elian Herrera homered for the sixth time this season in the third. He also was one of two Isotopes with two hits and has recorded a multi-hit game in two straight contests. Herrera took over sole possession of the team lead with 27 multi-hit games in 2013.
The Isotopes loaded the bases in the seventh eyeing a comeback down by three in the series finale. A single and two walks led up to Chili Buss' second hit of the game scoring two runs. Buss has 75 RBI on the season pulling into a tie for top spot in the Pacific Coast League with Las Vegas' Wilmer Flores. Ian Stewart then walked forcing Alex Castellanos home, tying the game at six.
Albuquerque's bullpen was strong through the eighth allowing the offense to get back in the game. Luis Vazquez entered in the fifth allowing an inherited runner to score before recording the final out with the bases loaded. He did not allow a run charged to him in two innings of work.
Geison Aguasviva went a nearly flawless 1.1 innings. His only blemish was one walk allowed. Sean White (3-5, 3.35) came on in the ninth and allowed the game-winning run to score with two outs. It the first run he has surrendered in his last seven appearances. He allowed two total runs in his innings of work and suffered the loss.
Starting pitcher Angel Castro did not allow a run through the first three but got touched up for five runs over the next 1.2 innings. The big blow in the fifth was a Pedro Ciriaco double that scored two runs giving the Storm Chasers their first lead of the game, 5-3. He allowed six runs on nine hits.
Chili Buss singled and swiped his 13th base of the season jump starting Albuquerque's offense in the second. Justin Sellers followed with his team-leading 21st double of the year scoring Buss. Brian Barden delivered a run-scoring single before the inning ended staking the Topes to an early 2-0 lead.
Francisley Bueno (2-3, 3.35) earned the win for Omaha tossing a scoreless 1.1 innings.
