July 22, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Padres News Release

Colorado Springs' four-run fifth inning powered the Sky Sox to a 6-4 win over the Tucson Padres Sunday at Kino Stadium. The Padres have dropped six of their past ten games and now lead the Southern Division by a half game.

The Sky Sox started the game with two runs coming on RBI extra-base hits from Tim Wheeler and Corey Dickerson in the top of the first. Jaff Decker scored on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the inning to cut the Colorado Springs lead to 2-1. The Sky Sox exploded for four runs on five hits in the fifth to extend their lead to 6-1. Charlie Culberson's two-run triple, Dickerson's RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Ben Paulsen accounted for the Colorado Springs four runs.

Tucson scored twice in the sixth with both runs coming on Dean Anna's triple to right. Ben Francisco barely missed hitting a two-run home run in the eighth, but settled for an RBI double off the top of the left field wall to cut the deficit to 6-4.

Sky Sox reliever Nick Schmidt earned his fourth win of the season after allowing two runs on two hits in two innings of work. Matt Andriese lost his third game for Tucson after yielding six runs on eight hits in a five-inning start. Armando Galarraga, who was making his Colorado Springs debut on the mound, pitched four innings before exiting the game because of an injury.

Next Game: Monday, 7:05 p.m. at Tacoma (Mariners affiliate) - Tucson RHP Brandon Kloess (2-3, 4.05) vs. Tacoma LHP James Paxton (6-7, 4.58). Live coverage begins at 6:55 pm on 1290 AM The Source.
