Islanders Assign Matt Martin to Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The New York Islanders have announced today that forward Matt Martin has been assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Martin, 21, was the Islanders' fifth round selection (148th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-3, 210-pound forward from Windsor, ON, scored 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 76 AHL games with the Sound Tigers last year. Martin also made his NHL debut last season, posting two assists and 26 penalty minutes in five games with the Islanders.

The Sound Tigers currently have 24 players on their roster, comprised of 14 forwards, seven defensemen, and three goaltenders.
