Admirals Open Regular Season Saturday Night
October 6, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-The Milwaukee Admirals kick off their 34th professional season and their 10th in the American Hockey League when they play host to the Abbotsford Heat on Saturday, October 9 at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center. All fans in attendance will take home an Admirals magnet schedule, courtesy of Old Orchard Juice and Pick n' Save and the internationally famous Milwaukee Scottish Bagpipes and Drums will perform in the east atrium.
On the ice, head coach Lane Lambert returns to guide an Admirals squad that will attempt to become the first team in AHL history to have eight consecutive seasons of 40 or more wins and 90 or more points. Lambert has guided the Ads to the post-season in each of his years behind the bench and is now the third winningest coach in franchise history. The team will feature a very young roster that includes five players in their rookie seasons. The Admirals will also have a number of new faces in the line-up as just seven players return to Milwaukee who played in 40 or more games with the team last year.
Off the ice, the Admirals are excited to debut a new promotion entitled Hometown Heroes, where at each game during the season the team will honor members of the Milwaukee community who have given selflessly of themselves in order to make the world a better and safer place. Saturday night the team will honor veterans Staff Sgt. Jason Dietrich and Staff Sgt. Nicholas Otto, who have extensive military service records and who have both been deployed overseas.
The Admirals will also kick off their annual "Hunt for Pink October" on Saturday night as the team helps to promote cancer awareness at their three home games in October. Pink ribbons will be emblazoned on the Bradley Center ice and the team will begin a silent auction in the west atrium for the pink jerseys that the Ads will wear on October 15 and 23. The money raised will be donated to Lee Denim Days, which supports the Woman's Cancer Programs of Entertainment Industry Foundation and Cancer Support Communities.
