Ian Cole and Nick Drazenovic Assigned by Blues

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday the club has assigned defenseman Ian Cole and forward Nick Drazenovic to the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. Defenseman Daryl Boyle has been assigned to the Rivermen ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces.

Drazenovic, 23, played in 58 games for the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Peoria Rivermen last season, collecting 39 points (19 goals, 20 assists) along with 40 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 205-pound forward tied for first on the Rivermen with a career-high 19 goals in an injury-shortened season.

Over his three-year professional career he has appeared in 203 professional games, all with the Rivermen. He has recorded 47 goals and 67 assists for 114 points over that stretch. The Prince George, British Columbia native was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 171st overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Cole, 21, made his professional debut with the Rivermen in March and appeared in nine games with the club. He posted five points (one goal, four assists) and four penalty minutes. He had spent the past three seasons at Notre Dame where he made 111 appearances for the Fighting Irish, collecting 17 goals and 48 assists for 65 points and 153 penalty minutes. Prior to his collegiate career, the Blues 1st round draft pick (18th overall) in 2007 spent two years with the United States National Team Developmental Program.

The 6-foot-1, 211-pound defenseman played in a total of 116 games while with the U.S. program amassing 39 points on 12 goals and 27 assists. In 2008, the Ann Arbor, Michigan native represented the United States at the World Junior Championships playing in six games and serving six penalty minutes.

Boyle, 23, has spent his entire pro career in the American Hockey League for three different teams. The 6'1", 200 lbs. Sparwood, British Columbia native spent his rookie season with the Norfolk Admirals in the 2008-2009 season, and last year split time between the Rockford IceHogs and Rivermen. Boyle has notched 44 points (10g, 34a) in 148 games. Last year, he closed the season on a terrific pace in Peoria, scoring four goals and adding five assists in just 20 games. Prior to turning pro, Boyle spent four seasons playing junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL. He finished amongst the WHL's top-20 scoring defenseman in his last two seasons, and was named Brandon's Top Defenseman in 2005-2006.
