Florida Panthers Acquire LW Darcy Hordichuk in Exchange for LW Andrew Peters

SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the club has acquired LW Darcy Hordichuk from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for LW Andrew Peters.

"Darcy is a veteran player who adds a physical presence to our line-up," said Tallon. "He is a high-character, hard-working individual who will play an important role for our club both on and off the ice. We look forward to welcoming him back to South Florida."

Hordichuk, 30, returns to Florida after playing parts of two seasons (2002-2004) with the club appearing in 60 games, registering three goals with one assist and 173 PIM. He led the Panthers with 158 PIM during the 2003-04 season. For his career in the National Hockey League he has appeared in 431 regular season games, (Atlanta, Phoenix, Florida, Nashville & Vancouver) scoring 18 goals with 15 assists and 998 PIM. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound forward also led Nashville during the 2005-06 season with 163 PIM and Vancouver during the 2009-10 season with 142 PIM.

The Kamsack, Saskatchewan native was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the sixth round (180th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
