Islanders Acquire Cliche from Avalanche

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The New York Islanders announced today that the team has acquired forward Marc-André Cliche from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Taylor Beck.
Cliche, 28, has played in 38 games this season with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League, recording six goals and 13 assists. The Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec native has 151 games of National Hockey League experience playing for the Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings.
A second round selection (56th overall) by the New York Rangers in 2005, Cliche has played in 379 games in the AHL, registering 74 goals and 96 assists for the Rampage and Manchester Monarchs. Prior to turning pro, Cliche played four seasons for the Lewiston MAINEiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, captaining the team in his last two seasons.
Beck, 24, has 33 points in 46 games with the Sound Tigers this year (16-17-33). A third round selection (70 th overall) of the Nashville Predators in 2009, Beck played in two games for the Islanders this season and has 87 games of NHL experience.
