Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they have reacquired goalie John Muse from the Texas Stars in exchange for future considerations.

Muse, 27, is the Checkers' all-time leader in wins (54) and games played (107) by a goaltender and is tied for the club record in shutouts (seven). Over parts of the past four seasons with the Checkers, Muse, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of East Falmouth, MA, posted a 54-40-5 record to go along with a 2.66 goals-against average and .916 save percentage.

Since leaving the Checkers organization as a free agent last summer, Muse, who has previously played for Charlotte under an NHL deal with Carolina as well as AHL and professional tryout contracts with the Checkers, posted a 9-3-3 record, 3.02 GAA and .904 SV% with the Stars.

The acquisition of Muse comes on the same day that the Carolina Hurricanes reacquired defenseman Dennis Robertson, who also played for the Checkers last season, in exchange for goaltender Drew MacIntyre.

The Checkers resume play with a six-game home stand that begins this Friday, March 4, against Grand Rapids at 7:30 p.m.
