Kings Acquire Forward Brett Sutter from Minnesota

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have acquired forward Brett Sutter from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Scott Sabourin, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Sutter is expected to be assigned to Ontario (AHL).

Sutter, 28 (born June 2, 1987), has played in 57 games with the Iowa Wild (AHL) this year, recording 14 points (4-10=14) and 37 penalty minutes. He is the son of Kings Head Coach Darryl Sutter.

The 6-0, 200-pound native of Viking, AB has played for the Wild, Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames. In 60 career NHL games he has 10 points (2-8=10) and 40 penalty minutes. Drafted in the sixth-round (179th overall) by the Flames during the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Sutter has appeared in 405 regular-season games in the AHL, posting 157 points (64-93=157) and 386 penalty minutes.

Sabourin, 23, has appeared in 125 regular-season games in the Kings organization (Reign - AHL, Manchester - AHL), posting (17-21=38), a plus-2 rating and 257 penalty minutes. He was signed by the Kings as a free agent on Oct. 7, 2013.
