Garnet Hathaway Makes NHL Debut with Calgary Flames

February 29, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release

Philadelphia, PA - The Stockton Heat, proudly owned by the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, congratulate forward Garnet Hathaway who made his NHL debut for the Calgary Flames tonight in Philadelphia. Hathaway skated 12:51 and recorded a plus-1 rating after being on the ice for former Adirondack Flame teammate, Micheal Ferland's third period goal.

While Hathaway was held pointless in his debut, he did record 3 hits, 1 shot on goal and 1 blocked shot for the Flames. His 12:51 time on the ice is the most for a Flames forward in his debut since current Flame Josh Jooris skated 15:29 back on October 17, 2014.

Hathaway, 24, is in his second full season as a pro, starting the year in Stockton and being named as one of the team's alternate captains. In 35 games with the Heat this season, Hathaway recorded 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 35 games played.

Recently the Kennebunkport, Maine native has been red hot for the Heat, finding himself on a three-game point streak in the AHL (1-2-3) and having scored once and adding 5 assists for 6 points in his last five games for Stockton.

Hathaway is the second Heat player to make his NHL debut this season, following Jakub Nakladal who made his debut for the Flames back on February 9. He joins former Flame Markus Granlund along with current players Karri Ramo, Joni Ortio, Tyler Wotherspoon and the aforementioned Nakladal as players who've received the call to Calgary from Stockton this season.
