Stockton Heat News Release
News and Notes
Stockton completes their first season series with a Pacific Division rival by going 4-1-0-1 against the San Antonio Rampage including winning their final four against the Rampage
Stockton finishes February going 5-5-0
The Heat won all five at home while lost four of five on the road
Stockton has won 12 of the last 13 games at Stockton Arena
Stockton still tops the league averaging 35.55 shots for per game
The Heat face their busiest month of the season with a 13-game March with 8 of those coming away from home
Freddie Hamilton has a four-game goal scoring streak dating back to 2/20/16 vs. San Jose
Hamilton actually has scored in five-straight home games dating back to Valentine's Day
Hamilton also scored the fastest goal to start a game this season just 21 seconds into the game on Wednesday
Kevin Poulin stopped 47 of 50 on Wednesday to stop the most pucks shot on a Heat goaltender this season (previously 42 saves by Joni Ortio on December 29 vs. Ontario)
Poulin won back-to-back games this week stopping 47 of 50 and 36 of 38
The 50 shots allowed on Wednesday were the most allowed by Stockton this season
Despite not having played since February 6, Derek Grant still ranks fifth in the AHL in goals with 23, just three short of league leader Mike Sislo of the Albany Devils who's played 21 more games than Grant
Approaching Milestones

Drew Shore is 8 assists from his 100th career AHL assist
Shore is also 13 games away from playing his 200th career AHL game
Bill Arnold is 6 games away from his 100th AHL game

Recently Accomplished Milestones

Hamilton and Agostino Leading Offensive Charge
Both Freddie Hamilton and Kenny Agostino have really carried the offensive weight for the Heat in the absence of injured center Derek Grant.
In their last 10 games, Agostino has 14 points (5-9-14) while Hamilton has 11 points (6-5-11) as both carry in four-game point streaks into the first week of March.
In fact, since the calendar turned to 2016, Agostino in particular, has been red hot, scoring 12 goals, 14 assists for 26 points in 21 games. He's the team leader in assists (24) and took the team lead in points with 41 after Sunday's game vs. San Antonio. Nearly 64% of his season point total has been picked up since January.
Trade Brings in Fourth 2013 First Rounder to Organization
It was a bittersweet trade last week as the Calgary Flames traded former Heat forward and the first ever call-up in team history, Markus Granlund, to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for 2013 first round (24th overall) pick of Vancouver's Hunter Shinkaruk.
Shinkaruk, who debuted for the organization on Wednesday for the Heat, was selected three spots after fellow first rounder in that same 2013 NHL Entry Draft in Emile Poirier and selected four spots ahead of Morgan Klimchuk. While the trio finds themselves on the Heat, Sean Monahan was selected 6th overall in that draft.
Busy March Critical for Playoff Push
The Stockton Heat have a busy end to the season with 13 games in the month of March including eight away from home as Stockton starts the month with a three-game road trip before returning home for four-straight (tied season long) and then head out on the longest trip of the season of five games before returning home to finish the month.
Stockton kicks off their play on the road in San Jose and San Diego where Stockton has yet to win on the road this season. The long road trip, which begins on March 19, sees the Heat start in Bakersfield and then take to the MTS Center in Manitoba, Canada for a pair before flying directly to Southern California to play the team's final games at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario.
As far as the games at home, Stockton sees just two California teams come to Stockton Arena with meetings with San Jose and San Diego while the team completes the season series with Texas with a pair of games on March 11 and 12. The team also hosts Iowa for the first and final time this season.
