St. John's IceCaps News Release

LIKE A PRO: Defenceman Travis Brown and forward Alexandre Ranger both potted their first professional goals against the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday night. Brown's second period tally was the game-winner.

BIG LEAGUE: Rookie Michael McCarron got the call to head to the Habs on Friday night. The 6-4, 230 pounder recorded his first NHL point with an assist against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre.

FANFEST: The IceCaps fourth Annual FanFest presented by Frontline Action is set for Sunday, March 6, 2016. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the players, bid on silent auction and raffle items, as well as enjoy inflatable games.

The St. John's IceCaps were dropped by the Albany Devils Wednesday night at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. Trailing 3-0 entering the third period, the IceCaps stormed out with two quick goals by Charles Hudon and Tim Bozon - the latter his first career AHL marker. The Devils then replied with an empty netter late in the third to seal the win before Bozon scored his second of the night with 3.1 seconds remaining.

For the second straight game the IceCaps were unable to come back from a 3-0 deficit, losing to the Comets Friday night at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. Bud Holloway scored at 16:43 of the final stanza, the only marksman for St. John's. Perhaps the biggest highlight for St. John's was John Scott's first fight as an IceCap - in the first period - a one- sided victory over Darren Archibald, who had kneed IceCaps defenceman Ryan Johnston.

Crunch's Adam Erne opened up the scoring with a tally seven minutes into the first, but the IceCaps rallied hard to score five goals for the win. Rookies Travis Brown and Alexandre Ranger both potted their first AHL professional goals. Joel Hanley, and Charles Hudon finished the game with a goal and assist each; and Captain Gabriel Dumont picked up an empty-net tally and two assists.
