Isbel Delivers Walk-Off Win for Chasers

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Kyle Isbel waited on deck as Edward Olivares watched two pitches sail outside the strike zone.
Omaha and Indianapolis were tied 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth. And Sebastian Rivero, who had opened the inning with a single for the Storm Chasers, was standing at second base with one out.
After reliever Braeden Ogle fell behind in the count 2-0, the Indians chose to intentionally walk Olivares to get a left-on-left matchup against Isbel. On the very next pitch, the southpaw slugger made them pay.
Isbel lined an RBI single to right field to give the Chasers a 6-5 walk-off win Thursday at Werner Park.
"It's obviously for the matchup, but it gives you a little adrenaline rush," Omaha's left fielder said. "It just makes you want to get it done that much more. I was just fortunate enough to help my team win."
The victory was the third in a row for the Chasers to open the six-game series between the top two teams in the Triple-A East Midwest Division standings. Omaha improved to 7-2 at home with the win.
Anthony Swarzak earned the win in relief, recording four outs in four batters, aided by a double play.
Ryan McBroom and Emmanuel Rivera each homered for the second consecutive night, and Alcides Escobar followed up his 4-for-4 performance on Wednesday with a three-hit effort in Thursday's win.
Rivera's three-run blast put the Chasers up by four runs after three innings. Omaha starter Ronald Bolaños fanned a season-high eight batters while limiting Indy to a run on three hits through five frames.
The Indians rallied, however, with four runs in the seventh thanks to three walks and an error. That set the stage for the dramatic finish. Isbel knew as soon as he'd made contact that he'd ended the contest.
"I knew he was going to try to get ahead with a strike," he said. "He ended up throwing me a slider, and I was ready for it and was fortunate enough to put a good swing on it."
