IronPigs Open Series at Norfolk

June 11, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will look to snap a six-game losing streak when they open a four-game set with the Norfolk Tides on Thursday night at Harbor Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. The IronPigs enter play at 21-40 after getting swept by Durham in three games earlier this week. Norfolk is one of just two teams in the IL that the Pigs have yet to play this season with Toledo being the other. The Tides sit at 33-26 on the year and are tied for second in the South Division but did drop two of three to Gwinnett earlier this week.

RHP Severino Gonzalez (1-2, 4.34) gets the ball for the Pigs in the series opener on Thursday. His last start came with the Phillies on Saturday vs. San Francisco when he took the loss after allowing six runs on seven hits while walking one and fanning five in 2.2 IP. Gonzalez's last outing in the IL came on May 15 at Rochester when he gave up a run on four hits in six innings of work but got a no-decision in that contest.

LHP Chris Jones (1-4, 2.58) will be on the bump for the Tides. Jones was tagged with the loss at Charlotte on Saturday after surrendering three runs (one earned) off of six hits while walking one and striking out two in 4.0 IP. Over his 6 GS this season, the southpaw is 1-3 with a 2.51 ERA.
