Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Allentown, Pennsylvania - Dustin Peterson homered for the third straight night, tying the game in the ninth inning, but the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (18-19) ultimately lost to the Memphis Redbirds (24-14) 5-3 in 10 innings on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park.
The IronPigs drew first blood in the first on an RBI single from Jim Haley before Oscar Mercado tied the game for Memphis with an RBI double in the fourth.
Juniel Querecuto drilled a solo homer leading off the seventh, his fifth of the season, giving Memphis a 2-1 lead.
Down to their final out, Peterson deposited a solo homer into the seats in left, his fourth of the season, tying the game at 2-2.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the 10th, Luken Baker ripped a bases clearing double to put Memphis ahead 5-2.
Lehigh Valley pushed across a run on a double play in the bottom of the 10th but ultimately left the bases loaded and lost 5-3.
Jake Walsh (1-0) picked up the win for Memphis after blowing the save. Walsh went 1.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks striking out one. Ryan Loutos (S, 1) recorded the final out of the game for Memphis after walking a batter in the 10th.
Jake Jewell (1-1) suffered the loss for Lehigh Valley, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk, striking out one.
The IronPigs and Redbirds wrap their series with the finale on Sunday, May 14, at 1:35 p.m.
