Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Moosic, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (29-24) pulled out another close game against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (19-33) as they won 2-1. Yairo Munoz getting hit by a pitch by Michael Gomez (1-3) with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning ended up becoming the deciding run of the game.
The IronPigs took a 1-0 lead against Ken Waldichuk in the top of the first inning as Didi Gregorius scored on a double playground ball hit by Dustin Peterson. The RailRiders lone run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning against Ricardo Sanchez. Ender Inciarte hit a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. The home run was Inciarte's third home run of the season.
Sanchez allowed just one run over five innings pitched. He gave up four hits and struck out seven batters. Corey Oswalt (1-1), Jose Alvarado, and Francisco Morales all pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Mark Appel earned his third save of the season by pitching a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
The IronPigs and RailRiders wrap up their series on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
