November 19, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release
DES MOINES, IA - Just under 6,000 fans witnessed history on Saturday night when the Iowa Stars shutout the Hamilton Bulldogs, 1-0, at Wells Fargo Arena.
Goalie Mike Smith was the goaltender of record, turning aside all 34 of Hamilton's shots. The Kingston, Ontario native shutdown the Bulldogs power-play, denying them on all six of their man-advantages. The whitewash included blanking them on 17 shots in the second period alone. Smith bounced-back from a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to San Antonio on Friday night.
Junior Lessard potted his second goal in as many nights early in the second period to break a scoreless tie. His power-play marker was his fourth goal of the season.
