
Iowa Energy Fall to Mad Ants on the Road

Ft. Wayne, IN Jan. 3, 2014 - The Iowa Energy fell to the Mad Ants 130-116 Friday night in Fort Wayne.
The Mad Ants started hot in the opening quarter and were led by Ron Howard. Howard had 16 of his career high 36 points in the first quarter and Fort Wayne led 37-26 after one.
Fort Wayne stayed hot behind Peyton Siva, on assignment from the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons also assigned forward Tony Mitchell. Iowa's Kalin Lucas hit a buzzer beater from half court to cut Fort Wayne's lead to ten as the Energy trailed 68-58 at the half.
Iowa came out hot to start the second half, going on a 19-9 run to tie the game at 77. The Energy took their first lead of the game after Patrick Christopher hit a three pointer, and Iowa trailed 94-91 heading into the final quarter.
The final quarter was all Fort Wayne and Howard, as they outscored the Energy 36-25 and went on to win 130-116.
Fort Wayne was led by Howard's career night. Siva finished with a near triple-double with 27 points, 10 assists, and 8 steals. Mitchell ended the night with 14 points and 9 boards. Indiana Pacers assignee Solomon Hill finished with 15 points.
The Energy were led by Othyus Jeffers, who finished with 26 points and 8 boards. Chicago Bulls assignee Marquis Teague finished with 15 points and 7 assists. Jarvis Varnado had another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Christopher ended the night with 17.
The Energy will travel to Reno for the NBA D-League Showcase next week.
Iowa will return home on Sunday, January 12th vs the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The game will feature a youth jersey giveaway presented by Dahls.
