Infante rejoins Kernels after stint with Bees
May 17, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
Infielder Larry Infante has rejoined the Kernels from a temporary assignment with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees.
Infante, who has played in 17 games for the Kernels and sports a .130 average, was sent to Des Moines on Sunday to meet up with the Bees who were in the middle of a four-game series with the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park. Infante saw time in Sunday's 6-0 Salt Lake win when he was used as a defensive replacement late in the game, going 0-for-1 in his only plate appearance, turning a double play, and starting another. On Tuesday Infante was 0-for-1 as a pinch-hitter.
With the return of Infante to Cedar Rapids the Kernels active roster stands at 25, the maximum allowed by the Midwest League.
The Kernels play the Swing of the Quad Cities at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The first 750 people through the doors receive an envelope filled with money ranging in denominations of $1 to $100 on Fairfax State Savings Bank Free Money Wednesday.
