Iowa Cubs News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indianapolis Indians (55-56) scored 10 runs to take down the Iowa Cubs (51-62) and even the series at one game apiece with a 10-5 win, Wednesday at Victory Field.

After scoring just one run in the series opener last night, Indianapolis exploded for 10 runs on 15 hits today in game two of the series. They scored at least one run in each of the first seven innings, scoring two in three of those seven.

They opened the game with a two-run single from Brendt Citta to open with a 2-0 lead. Hoy Park used an RBI double in the second inning to make it 3-0 before Iowa scored their first run of the game on an RBI single from David Bote.

From there, the Indians added seven unanswered runs highlighted by a double from Citta in the third and home runs by Travis Swaggerty in the sixth and Park in the seventh.

With the big lead, the Indians pitching staff locked in, with three consecutive relievers not allowing a single hit over their three innings of work. Iowa scored four runs in the ninth off Hunter Stratton to make it interesting, but the comeback would fall short as they dropped game two of the series by a score of 10-5.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- Four of Iowa's five pitchers allowed at least one earned run, with Danis Correa being the only reliever not to. He threw just one pitch, recording a double play to end the eighth inning.

- Caleb Kilian struck out five batters to give him 100 strikeouts on the year with Iowa, but allowed six earned runs on eight hits and two walks over just three innings.

- Tyler Payne went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and a run batted in. He was the only hitter for Iowa to record two hits and the only I-Cubs batter to record an extra-base hit.

Iowa and Indianapolis will play game three of their six-game series tomorrow, with first pitch set for 6:05 pm CT from Victory Field. For more information and tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
