Indians Overcome Deficit to Win Fifth Straight

June 9, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Indianapolis Indians News Release

ROCHESTER, NY -- A three-run sixth erased a deficit and helped send the Indianapolis Indians to their fifth consecutive victory on Tuesday night, 5-4. The Tribe trailed the Rochester Red Wings 3-2 entering the sixth, but a two-run single by Elias Diaz put Indianapolis on top for good.

The Tribe's rally in the sixth occurred with two outs, and was kick started by a pair of singles by Brent Morel and Steve Lombardozzi. A walk to Tony Sanchez loaded the bases before Diaz's single. Mel Rojas Jr. salted the lead when he drove home Sanchez following Diaz's at-bat.

Morel helped lead the charge offensively; he collected three hits, scored two runs, and hit his third home run of the season. His solo homer in the fourth cleared the scoreboard in left field and landed in the parking lot beyond the wall.

Wilfredo Boscan (3-2) battled through five innings to receive the win. John Holdzkom returned from the disabled list and struck out the side in the seventh; while Blake Wood converted his league-leading 16th save of the season. Taylor Rogers (5-4) took the loss for Rochester (31-26).

The Indians (37-23) are 11-2 in their last 13 road contests, and their current seven-game trip wraps up Wednesday afternoon before they head home Thursday for a seven-game homestand.
