The first place Indians jumped out to an early lead Monday night, and did so again Tuesday - combining a single, a stolen base, a throwing error and a sacrifice fly against Taylor Rogers in the first inning for a 1-0 lead.

On May 5, the Wings pounded Indians starter Wilfredo Boscan for five hits and seven runs in 1/3 inning, knocking him out in a game the Wings eventually won 15-10. Tuesday, Boscan set down the Wings in order in the first inning - but the Wings racked up six hits in the second inning, taking a 3-0 lead. Doug Bernier, Ryan Wheeler, and Danny Santana contributed RBI hits to the inning.

After a pair of scoreless innings pitched by Rogers, Brent Morel hit a solo shot over the left field wall in the fourth to cut the Red Wings lead to one.

Rogers (5-4) found himself in a jam in the sixth inning. After retiring the first two batters of the inning, Rogers allowed two singles and a walk to load the bases. Rogers then surrendered a two RBI single to Elias Diaz, putting the Wings behind 4-3. After giving up another RBI single, this one to Mel Rojas Jr, Rogers' night came to an end. Rogers pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up five runs on nine hits, while striking out two and walking one. Rogers threw 91 pitches, 59 for strikes.

After Boscan's rough second inning, he was able to settle down, surrendering only one hit over the next three innings. Boscan's night came to an end at the end of the fifth. Over five innings, Boscan (3-2) allowed three runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking two. He threw 98 pitches, 59 for strikes.

Collin Balester came on in the sixth inning in relief of Boscan, and after a couple of errors and a Ryan Wheeler single, his second of the game, the Wings loaded the bases with one out. Danny Santana scored Doug Bernier with the sacrifice fly, and the Wings found themselves back within one at the end of six, with the score 5-4.

John Holdzkom, just off the Indianapolis disabled list, took over in the bottom of the seventh and struck out the heart of the Wings' lineup - Reynaldo Rodriguez, Oswaldo Arcia, and Josmil Pinto.

Michael Tonkin started the eighth inning, after Thielbar set down all four batters he faced. Tonkin struck out four in two innings, including three in the top of the ninth.

Blake Wood pitched the ninth inning for the Indians, picking up his league-leading 16th save.

NOTES: Tuesday was the shortest outing for Taylor Rogers since May 12 (four starts since then)...The Indians out-hit the Red Wings 10-9. That's the seventh straight double digit hit games for Indy versus the Wings.
