INDIANAPOLIS -- There's an organization on the campus of IUPUI that's doing amazing work--keeping families together even when facing overwhelming obstacles. Without Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, patients and families staying at Riley Hospital for Children wouldn't be able to stay so connected during such a vulnerable time.
Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months in Indianapolis to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children--a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana provides a place for families to call home so they can stay close by their hospitalized child.
The Indians have been longtime supporters of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana. Players and Rowdie frequently visit families staying in the House, cooking meals for them and giving them an outlet to talk, laugh and have fun. Recently, the nonprofit has been the beneficiary of Indians jersey auctions, raising more than $27,000 for the organization in the past two seasons.
This August, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana will be the beneficiary of two more Indians specialty jersey auctions--for PAW Patrol jerseys August 17-18 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jerseys August 23-24. Fans at Victory Field and following along at home can bid on the jerseys, with all proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana.
