COLUMBUS, OHIO - After dropping three straight on the road at Columbus this week, the Indians' bats came to life in the second game of today's doubleheader to give the Tribe a needed 6-1 victory and twinbill split Thursday at Huntington Park.

Both games were scheduled for seven innings.

Game One:

Indianapolis found itself behind big early in the game and Columbus' Mike Clevinger never let up as the Clippers thumped the Tribe, 11-0.

After returning to Indy from a stint with Pittsburgh, Wilfredo Boscan (3-5) was touched for seven earned runs in 1.2 innings. The total is the most he's surrendered since May 19, 2013, with Triple-A Tucson. His career high is eight earned runs in 2010.

Adam Frazier failed to reach base in the contest, snapping his on-base streak at a league-best 29 consecutive games.

Clevinger (6-0) stumped Tribe hitters, scattering three hits over six shutout frames in the shortened contest. He struck out eight batters and walked none.

Two of those hits, one a double, belonged to Willy Garcia, who improved to .461 on the road trip following game one.

Game Two:

After a brief stay with Double-A Altoona, Frank Duncan's return to the Indians came with a strong starting effort that helped the Tribe to victory in the nightcap.

After a scoreless first, the Indians (31-29) plated three runs in the second to end the day's drought on a three-run homer by Gift Ngoepe. It was Ngoepe's second long-ball of the season - both good for three runs.

Two more runs came across in the third after a double by Adam Frazier opened a string of four straight hits to give Indianapolis the lead.

Columbus (35-26) answered with a run in the fourth before Gift Ngoepe scampered home on a wild pitch in the seventh. That would make up all the scoring for the day as the Indians claimed the split.

Frank Duncan (2-2) went five frames, allowing one run on four hits. Will Roberts (5-3) took the loss after giving up five earned over 4.2 innings.

The Indians return home on Friday to face Syracuse at 7:15 p.m.
